The Environmental Protection Act 1994 requires the Department of Environment and Science to maintain registers of certain documentation related to administration and enforcement activities under the Act. The environmental authorities register provides details of documents issued under the Environmental Protection Act 1994 that are publicly available. The register provides details about environmental authorities issued for resource activities (mining and petroleum and gas) and prescribed activities issued under the Environmental Protection Act 1994. The environmental authorities include conditions requiring the developments to conduct these activities in an environmentally responsible manner. Each environmental authority has a unique permit number. The environmental authorities register is available here - https://environment.ehp.qld.gov.au/env-authorities/. For this dataset, the "site" field has been linked to Queensland Government spatial data, for example the Digital Cadastral Database (DCDB) and mining tenures.

Incomplete. This dataset contains locations for environmental authorities where there is a valid link between the "site" column in the environmental authorities register and a spatial dataset. Locations may be missing. The environmental authorities that will most likely not have a location will be ones that are listed with an address as a site, where the "Permit type" is typically a "Prescribed ERA". Sites with a lot on plan or mining tenure have a high location match rate. Due to changes in the Digital Cadastral Database, some map features may not accurately represent the locations as described in environmental authorities.

This dataset is GDA2020 compatible. The environmental authorities register is derived from combined extracts of the Department of Environment and Science's Connect and Ecotrack databases.
The environmental authorities register spatial dataset update requires that the register be separated by each location (lot on plan, mining tenure or address) and environmentally relevant activity (ERA) for each permit reference number. This results in a large number of records as each permit reference number may be located on multiple locations and each location may have multiple ERAs. The "Site" field from the register is then used to match the register to spatial datasets such as the Queensland Government Digital Cadastre Database (DCDB) and mining tenures. This dataset is a derived product which may inherit any attribute or spatial errors from its source datasets.
